Per capita financial income of Dongxihu District ranks the first in the whole province among the state level demonstration zones.

Wujiashan Hill, like a pot lid, and with a height of approximately 100 meters, presents a busy view at present: hundreds of mussy buildings around it have been dismantled, and people are removing girders and taking away bricks as well as planting trees and watering flowers.

700 million Yuan is spent to remove the obstacles and present the green, does it worthwhile? East side of the hill, which has been torn down and rebuilt, makes people in Dongxihu more and more recognize government’s decision-making: The multicolored camphor trees, myrobalan plums and other plants, and a green sea make people relaxed and happy; the out-of-order vista has already gone into thin air.

This is only one measure of building the ecological zone of Wuhan Dongxihu District. At present, a series of ecological project with total investment over 5 billion Yuan has been carried out in full swing: the construction of sewage collection pipe network is accelerated faster; the ecological repair of Jinyin Lake has been finished, and a view of “Water Town in Southern China” will appear after the connection of seven lakes to the Changjiang River; the artificial wetland will be built in the countryside to clear up sanitary sewage, and stalk gasification project will provide farmers with gas.

In the process of urbanization, Dongxihu District exquisitely realizes that ecology is the biggest dominance of itself. “The eleventh five” plan of the district regards ecology as core competence, and harmonious ecological landscape and clean production mechanism will be employed to construct an ecological city area which is most suitable for establishing business and residence.

There are state level food industry parks and dense processing enterprises here. Dongxihu District controls pollution and reduces consumption by circulation economy, and promotes the construction of new countryside and extension of industry chains. 17 thousand cows’ annual defecation is 170000 tons, and sewage 1.19 million tons. Sewage control and marsh gas integrated equipment have realized that all the sewage are drained after reaching the standards. The Biological Organic Fertilizer Company will change cattle manure into highly active organic fertilizer, and provide them to the farm for planting green vegetables.

Cyclic industry chains have been gradually established among enterprises. China Resources Beer reclaims wasted bottle glass and sells them to Wuhan Bottle-making Factory, and Shuosen Biology distills biology P albumen from beer dregs, and realizes dual win.

In 2005, the district was appraised as “national ecological demonstration area” and was rated as one of the first national circulation economy experimental district. Last year, both 10000 Yuan GDP energy consumption and decrease rate of main pollutant discharge have reached standards in advance, with green coverage of 45.6%.

Ecological environment is gradually becoming a golden brand, pushing the economy of Dongxihu into a road of sustainable development. On the side of Jinyin Lake, the revaluation of land is 30 times in 7 years; more than 1000 enterprises settled in Dongxihu; the financial income increase of the whole district has reached 30% for many years, and per capita financial income ranks the first place of the whole province.
