Modern urban agriculture is the comprehensive crossing industry integrating agricultural production, inhabitants’ living and city ecology into a whole. Currently Dongxihu district has published Development Planning of Modern Urban Agricultural Industry At Dongxihu District to look forward to the future of modern urban agriculture during “Eleven Five-Year Plan” period.
According to the planning, the entire objective of modern urban agriculture of the district shall be: on the basis of relative stability of basic farmland and optimized upgrading of industrial structure, it shall realize the steady increase of gross agricultural economy and the rapid increase of village resident’s income in 2011, modern urban agriculture forms the obvious advantage and features in central China area and the overall development level steps into the advanced rank domestically.
It shall include the contents in five aspects:
The first is to establish the state-level agricultural products processing demonstration area to forge the eight advantageous industry chains such as processing of milk products, meat products, wooden products, grain & cotton & oil, food & beverage, fishery products, fresh vegetables as well as tobacco making, with processing scale of agricultural products reaching above RMB 30 billion Yuan.
The second is to set up the exhibition area for agricultural raw materials in central China region, with focus on the advantageous ones such as vegetables, milk industry, fruits, aquatic products and countryside travel, to try to forge 15 demonstration bases of non-polluted vegetable, intensive breeding and ecological forest & fruits.
The third is to construct the typical agricultural industrialization area in central China to develop the standardized production base dominated by 100000 mou vegetable, 80000 mou fresh foods and miscellaneous grain crops, 50000 mou intensive cultivation fishpond, 40000 mou fruit and tea forest and 22000 milk cows as well as 38000 mou fallow agriculture.
The fourth is to construct the leading area with protected agriculture, ecological agriculture and high efficiency agriculture in the whole province to improve the irrigation, mechanization and informatization level of agriculture, improve land yield rate, resource utilization level and labor productivity of agriculture as well as agricultural quality, efficiency and competitive force.
The fifth is to construct the modern urban agricultural sample area in the whole city, the leading enterprises, standardized base and farmers shall form the close industrial chain relation, the comprehensive service system and cooperative organization will be further perfected, the main agricultural products will be at the important market position within regional range to form the characteristic advantages and brand value.
