Wuhan Airport Economic Development Zone (Dongxihu District) is named after the lake and prospered by the lake.The Hanjiang River, Hanbei River, Lunhe River, and Fuhe River pass through the District from the south, west and north respectively.The Hanjiang River is the largest tributary of the Yangtze River and flows from west to southeast through the southwestern side of Dongxihu District with a transit length of 34.65 kilometers. Its annual average transit water volume is 51.2 billion cubic meters.The Hanbei River passes through the boundary of Dongxihu District for 6 kilometers and enters the river through the Xingou Gate. Its tributary Lunhe River enters the Fuhe River through the Dongshantou Gate.The Lunhe River passes through Xin’andu and Dongshan of the District, and passes through the Dongshantou Gate to Fuhe River, with a total length of 13.50 kilometers.The Fuhe River flows from the northwest to the southeast through the northeast side of Dongxihu District, and flows into the Yangtze River via Shenjiaji, Wuhan, with a total length of 349 kilometers and a transit length of 38.50 kilometers.The catchment area of the levee of Dongxihu Lake is 442 square kilometers.The water system in the District is composed of 98 ditches and 26 lakes, which are regulated by 15 large and medium-sized irrigation and drainage sluices. The water level is stable, which is conducive to production and life.
